Coated abrasives are made by covering natural or synthetic abrasives on different backings through adhesives. Common types of backing include cloth base, paper base, fiber, film, etc.

 

 

At present, for various difficult-to-machine metals and alloy products, coated abrasive manufacturers are gradually using some ceramic abrasives to improve the life and efficiency of the overall coated abrasive products. Especially for corrosion-resistant and acid-resistant stainless steel, titanium alloys, nickel alloys, etc., ceramic abrasive coated abrasive products are more effective than ordinary abrasive products. Typical applications are surface grinding, centerless grinding, etc.

 

 

Ceramic abrasives have two main advantages in the application of coated abrasives:

 

1. Compared with ordinary abrasives, ceramic abrasives can maintain the cutting ability continuously without additional pressure during the processing of workpieces. Ordinary abrasives lose cutting force faster.

 

 

2. Due to the self-sharpening of the ceramic abrasive itself, the coated abrasive product can grind +60% more volume than the same ordinary corundum abrasive product during use. And the longer the grinding time, the more obvious it is.
